Beauty buff launches hypoallergenic, vegan line of cosmetics.
July 6, 2010

Women with sensitive skin often seek out mineral cosmetics as a way to beautify without breakouts. However, some still react to other ingredients such as titanium dioxide, bismuth oxychloride or zinc oxide. Professional makeup artist and licensed esthetician Christopher Drummond set out to fill a gap in the cosmetics category when he conceived Christopher Drummond Beauty—a new line of organic and hypo-allergenic products that recently debuted at The Spa at the Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills, CA. A former model turned makeup artist, Drummond saw from both sides that there was not a particular makeup brand that worked well for ethnic skin tones. He also saw that traditional cosmetics left many models and women feeling as though their skin was “itching.” After years of research, Drummond realized that titanium dioxide, bismuth oxycloride and zinc oxide were the possible culprits. He created a brand that doesn’t fit in a category, thus the name: “beyond mineral makeup.” Christopher Drummond Beauty features everything from a Sateen Blush ($28), an ultra-fine, milled mica powder with a light shimmer and radiant color to enhance skin tone; to the Veludo Velvet Foundation ($65), a powder/cream hydrating base that contains plant extracts, exotic fruit infusions and antioxidants to help improve skin texture.
